General Information

The Faculty of Science, one of the largest within the University of Porto, is highly experienced in Science Education and also most up to date with recent developments in Science as it can be seen within the course syllabus for undergraduate and post-graduate studies offered.

Currently with over 3700 students, the Faculty intends to increase the number of students while keeping current quality standards.
Over 80% of our teaching staff holds a PhD degree. Their activities include teaching at undergraduate and post-graduate level, scientific research, science communication and representation or management tasks, such as undergraduate and post-graduate coordinators, head of departments, research centers coordinators, and the non teaching staff working in academic and accounting offices, departmental offices, library, and informatics.
We also list temporary visitors and research project collaborators.

The whole activity of the Faculty is supported by a number of relevant service offices to assist the normal operation of the Faculty in its main activities, namely academic, administrative, human resources, financial and patrimonial, image, internal and external relations

The Faculty offers its students many services and resources aiming to create an amenable working environment during their studies. Some of these services and resources are:
